Paramore's debut album, All We Know is Falling, has been described as poppy emo. Well, whatever it is, it is good. And singer Hayley Williams was only 16 when it was recorded in 2005. Her voice at the time was not as refined as it is on Riot!, but it was still powerful and hit the right notes.
It was produced, by Fueled by Ramen, the company behind Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco, and you can hear a lot of them in it. But, it is broader than just punk-pop. Hayley Williams' voice has a lot to do with it; most punk-pop bands don't have a powerful vocalist. Yet, the appeal cuts through more than just vocals. Paramore's musicianship is also a lot more advanced than their punk-pop contemporaries. Some of the songs have me thinking Goo Goo Dolls, some Jimmy Eat World.
This debut album doesn't sound like one. When songs came on, like "Emergency" and "Pressure," you know Paramore is more than just another flash in the pan band. Paramore is going to be big.
